This is a very lovely painting, since you mentioned its still in progress, I want to suggest some things:
The deer looks currently as if he is a bit buried in the grass, from the perspective it looks right, also the lighting is done nicely but the woman could benefit from more shadows on her cloth.
I guess you´ll work on that anyway, but the horizon line where the sky and the water meet, looks a bit to hard and unnatural, on the right side you have more depth because of the brightness towards the horizon, to add more depth in general, I´d recommend making the grass also brighter towards the middle of the image.
Other than that, keep it up-
